HOW
TO ACCESS THE EAP
Access to the
EAP is as simple as calling the telephone number listed below. Here, you
will speak with a Masters or Doctoral level counselor who will gather
information and either schedule you at an office near where you live or
work for assessment, referral and short-term counseling or directly provide
you with informative and supportive phone counseling.
Below is a description
of how the EAP actually works.
- When you or your family member calls in, the
phone will be answered, "Perspectives, how may I help you?"
- You will then be asked what company you work
for--please tell the counselor the name of the company. This confirms
your employment and enables us to provide you with the appropriate services
that are available through your company's EAP.
- The reason for the call will be determined,
especially whether or not it is an emergency.
- Preliminary information will be obtained.
- Either an assessment appointment will be set
up with a Perspectives counselor or you will be assisted on the telephone.
- After the assessment, if short term counseling
is necessary, the counselor will continue to meet with you, but if a
referral is necessary, the counselor will refer you to a source that
has been carefully selected and matches your needs. This increases the
likelihood of your getting to the right resource for assistance the
first time.
- You may also be directed to our website or other
pertinent websites for helpful resources.
- In the event of an emergency, you can reach
a Perspectives counselor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
